POPULACE

Greetings unto the populace of the vast Sherwood Forest from THL Aislinge, Deputy Sheriff of Nottingham!

I have received this day reports of terrible deeds performed by so-called "merry" men in the woods of Meridies. They steal the hard-earned gold of our wealthiest peers and distribute it to the layabout beggars from hither to yon. We shall make our ambush of these hoods down in the Shire of Vulpine Reach on the 16th Day of October and shall settle all scores, once and for all.

I have heard they plan to choose a new leader amongst them, to be dubbed Robin the Hood, by virtue of armored combat. As our most recent Sheriff has retired, we too have decided to host a tournament to select our new Sheriff.  Whoever be left standing shall lead our supporters in a grand melee against the Hood and his men yon afternoon!

I hear further that those villains shall let fly with the bow and arrow with a competition of archery, and I dare say the yeoman of our lands must meet them and prove that no Sherwood string springs more sprightly than a Nottingham bow.

And to think, all of this coincides with the Nottingham Fair, a competition of arts and sciences (judged to Kingdom standards), of which a category winner and a grand champion shall be selected! I have deemed any merry man that might spoil the competition or any of our selection of classes on all manner of subject an outlaw!

Perhaps in the evening we may turn about our differences and gather for a feast provided by Sir Stuart MacDonald.  A rumor persists that Tobias a'Dale will challenge the twisted tongues of the diners to come up with limerick to entertain using words of great complexity and craft.  We may even be inclined to dance at even'song, as we pick at the sweetmeats and other imported delights.

I hope that we may count on your support against these outlaws, so we may once again travel the roads through our Kingdom in peace.
