Persona StoryThe Honorable Lord Corwin was born in the Year of Our Lord 1533, the same as our beloved Queen Elizabeth. Lord Corwin was born in a small fishing village in Ireland to James and Mary Giollapadhreag. Following the family tradition, Corwin went to sea at an early age aboard his father's fishing boat. Like his father, Corwin became a skilled sailor and quickly became master of his own fishing vessel. While he was still a young man, en route to the north Atlantic fishing grounds, Corwin's boat encountered an unexpected storm. In the fury and darkness, no one saw the wave that swept Corwin overboard and into the frigid churning sea. The dawn found Corwin alone, clinging for life to a broken spar, with nothing left but his belt knife and most of a flask of Irish whiskey. Before he went completely mad or froze to death, as luck would have it, he was discovered shaking and hypothermic by a Danish fishing vessel. After some negotiation, and not a little Irish whiskey, it was agreed that Corwin would pay for his passage to Denmark by working for the Captain on the fishing vessel. After a successful fishing season, the homeward-bound ship was attacked by Barbary pirates. As the first pirate came aboard, he took a pistol blast to the chest and fell at young Corwin's feet. Seeing that the pirate would no longer need his sword, Corwin picked it up and helped to defend the ship. After the boarders were repelled, Corwin was pleased to realise that he was not dead and rather good with a sword. Once the ship reached Denmark, rather than waiting for better sailing weather, Corwin set out overland on the long journey home. |
